GetResponse is one of the OGs in the email marketing space, having been formed in 1997.

Nowadays GetResponse is a full featured email marketing platform with 350,000+ customers.

Getresponse allows you to set up and build an email list, create a newsletter, segment your subscribers and serve them through autoresponders. 

Getresponse's features are evolving and they're becoming more of an ‘all-in-one' marketing solution, adding webinar hosting and CRM functions.

Is GetResponse Right For Me?

GetResponse isn’t going to be the right tool for everyone. Nothing is right for everyone.  

It's the best fit for bloggers who have a limited budget. Or if you're just getting started with your blog or business, then GetReponse could be a good choice. It’s easy to use and isn't going to drain your time or financial resources. 

If you're looking for complex automations, then you might be better suited to Active Campaign or ConvertKit.

The ability to build complex autoresponder sequences based on user behaviour is available on the ‘Plus’ plan or higher (you can create 5 automations on the plus plan; unlimited on the other plans). 



Tools and templates for building automated sales funnels available on the ‘Plus’ plan (limited to 5 funnels).



Provides a basic customer relationship manager tool on the ‘Plus' plan or higher.

Mobile-friendly landing pages are available on all plans. Using the creator is a little clunky. 


Ability to host webinars on the platform. The  ‘Plus' plan allows you to host a webinar with up to 100 participants; the ‘Professional' plan's cap is 300; and the ‘Enterprise’ plan’s cap is 500.

You can also purchase more functionality as an add-on for the ‘Basic’ plan: $40 per month buys you a 100 attendees limit, $99 per month buys you a 500 attendees limit. 


Integrated CRM. Add users to a CRM pipeline based on their activity (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or trigger autoresponders based on the addition of a new contact. 

Not a robust CRM with all the functions you would expect, but hopefully it will develop over time.

Allows you to do single or double opt in. 

You can add forms via an HTML form, or you can design your form in GetResponse and use some Javascript code to display the form.

Clear info about GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), along with special GDPR fields that make it easier to log consent and comply with the regulations.

GetResponse Vs Competitors

GetResponse vs Aweber 

Aweber is probably one the most basic email marketing tools, but it’s reliable and solid. They offer phone support where GetResponse doesn’t.

GetResponse vs ConvertKit

The main differences between GetResponse and ConvertKit  are that GetResponse offers a specialized Webinar automation autoresponder workflows builder, whereas ConvertKit does not. ConvertKit provides a simpler user interface that is easier to use than GetResponse. GetResponse is almost half as expensive as ConvertKit. ConvertKit offers really user-friendly automations.

GetResponse vs Active Campaign 

Active Campaign is more expensive, but does have more extensive features. So if you're looking to up your email marketing game, then Active Campaign would be the best fit.

However, if you have a larger budget then you would probably go with a more advanced solution such as ConvertKit or Active Campaign.
